Hi Teachers! I know you are all busy getting ready for the new school year! I so remember this time! Sad, summer was ending, yet, exited to get my room ready for my new little first graders!
My last year of teaching (I didn’t know in the fall I would retire!!!) I used this amazing book, Mrs. Spitzer’s Garden, by Edith Pattou. At the end of summer, Mrs. Spitzer is given a packet of seeds by her principal. The book tells how Mrs. Spitzer plants and nurtures her “little seeds”! I bet you can guess who her “little seeds” are So the theme of my room that year was — Welcome to Mrs. Elstad’s Garden. Everything in my room had to do with a garden and my little first graders were always referred to as Mrs. Elstad’s Little Seeds! I loved it and parents did too! Sadly, both my parents passed away that year –withing 2 1/2 months of each other. I can’t tell you how many touching memories and cards my parents gave me that year that was always signed — Love, Mrs. Elstad’s Little Seeds! It was a VERY special year for me!
If you are looking for a cute idea for your class, use this book and create a beautiful garden in your class!
Have a Fabulous Year!!
